How to Change Your Life

Hi Reader

Happy New Year! I hope your holiday season was filled with rest, joy, and connection. As we step into 2025, I wanted to share some thoughts about creating a life that feels deeply aligned, authentic, and fulfilling.

While a lot of people resist the idea of setting intentions for the new year, I've always felt that a new year is a powerful reminder of the agency we have over our lives. While we can’t control everything, we can control the choices we make, the actions we take, and the standards we set for ourselves.

Too often, we wait for happiness to find us—believing it will come once we achieve the next goal or when circumstances eventually change. But the truth is, fulfilment starts with us. It’s about recognising where we’ve been playing small, taking radical responsibility for our lives, and choosing to make changes that align with who we truly want to be.

So, what if this year became the year you stopped waiting—and started creating the life you truly desire?

Here are five key steps to begin this journey:

  1. Stop lying to yourself. You cannot be free without first getting honest. Ruthlessly audit what is and is not working in your life, and the role you have played in perpetuating an unsatisfactory status quo. This kind of exercise in radical self-responsibility can feel confronting if you're accustomed to making excuses, but it’s actually a very empowering first step to reclaiming your agency and uncovering the path forward.
  2. Recognise that inaction is a decision. If you struggle with self-trust, you likely tend towards indecisiveness—especially with significant decision points. But "doing nothing" doesn’t absolve us of responsibility; it simply keeps us stuck. Every day you stall on taking action, you’re actually choosing more of the same. Let that sink in and see how it feels to acknowledge the truth of it.
  3. Connect to your deepest desires. Spend time getting clear about what you truly want. How do you want your life, relationships, work, and environment to feel? Perhaps you want your life to feel expansive, free and spacious. Perhaps you yearn to feel adored, cherished and deeply seen in your relationship. Perhaps you're craving work that feels meaningful, energising and abundant. Perhaps you're envisioning a home environment that feels beautiful, tranquil, and inspiring. Let yourself dream without constraints—your desires are precious and important.
  4. Build your capacity for discomfort. Growth always requires us to lean into discomfort. Every time you challenge yourself and overcome something hard, you expand your ability to handle life with resilience and self-trust.
  5. Practise courage. Courage isn’t about being fearless—it’s about feeling the fear and doing the thing anyway. Each courageous step builds trust in yourself and your ability to create the life you want. And waiting to make big changes until you're no longer scared means waiting forever. So get courage-ing, my friend.
